Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a different setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the core of society through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared bold, daring sensibility to the television.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
